Serving tip

Gaïa, as a red wine blend, should be served at a temperature that highlights the complexity of its aromas. A serving temperature of 16 to 18°C is ideal.

History of the grape varieties

Gamaret and Garanoir are two red grape varieties that were created in Switzerland in the 1970s. They are often blended together to produce fruity and spicy red wines.

Divico is a more recent red grape variety, also created in Switzerland. It is resistant to diseases and produces full-bodied and tannic red wines.

Why this whimsical name?

In Greek mythology, Gaia is the goddess of the Earth, considered the mother of all living beings. She was born from Chaos, the original state of the cosmos, and gave birth to Uranus (the Sky) and Pontus (the Sea). Gaia is often depicted as a woman emerging from the earth, symbolizing her fertility and generosity.

Bacchus, also known as Dionysus in Greek mythology, is the god of wine, vineyards, pleasures, and mild madness. He is the son of Zeus and the mortal Semele. Bacchus is often depicted holding a bunch of grapes or a glass of wine, symbolizing his association with the vine and wine.

The parallel between Gaia and Bacchus is interesting because it highlights the close link between the earth and wine. Gaia, as the goddess of the Earth, provides the fertile soil and conditions necessary for the growth of vines. Bacchus, as the god of wine, represents the transformation of these grapes into wine. Together, they symbolize the vine’s life cycle, from the earth to the bottle.

By naming our wine “Gaïa,” we refer to these two essential aspects of viticulture: the earth that nourishes the vine and the wine that is the final product. It’s a beautiful way to celebrate the link between nature and wine.
